U-RAM BOP (U-type gate blowout preventer)

The U-shaped gate blowout preventer (BOP) is a hydraulic gate blowout preventer with a U-shaped elongated oval structure. Compliant with API 16A and GB/T 20174 standards, it is a core well control device for long-term high-pressure well sealing during drilling, fracturing, and well workover operations. It is named for its U-shaped elliptical gate chamber design and is currently the most widely used gate blowout preventer structure in onshore and high-pressure wells. Core functions:
1. Reliable long-term high-pressure well sealing: When drill pipe and tubing are present in the well, a semi-sealing gate can seal the annulus; when no tubing is present, a full-sealing/shearing gate completely seals the wellhead. It can withstand pressure for extended periods and serves as the primary safety barrier for the well control system.
2. Enables well control and choke circulation operations: After the gate is closed, choke and well control manifolds are connected via bypass flanges on both sides of the casing to establish circulation channels for well control, blowout relief, and mud circulation, controlling abnormal wellhead pressure.
3. Temporarily suspend the downhole tubing string. After shutting in the well, the gate valve can hold the weight of the drill string and tubing string, facilitating the disassembly and assembly of wellhead equipment.
4. For emergency shear shut-in under extreme conditions, a shear gate valve can be installed to shear the downhole tubing string and completely seal the wellhead in an emergency, serving as a last resort in case of a blowout.
