Bare rod clip

The polished rod clamp (also called a square clamp or polished rod slip, model code GQ) is a core fastener at the wellhead of a beam pumping unit in oilfields. Installed above the suspension cable and packing box on the polished rod, it is secured by bolts, transmitting the reciprocating load of the pumping unit and ensuring safe and stable production in mechanically operated wells. The standard is SY/T 5029. Its main functions are:
1. Load transmission and fixing: Clamping the polished rod transmits the reciprocating power of the pumping unit's head to the downhole sucker rod string via the suspension cable, enabling oil lifting and extraction.
2. Safety and anti-fall-off: If the downhole sucker rod breaks off, the clamp rests on the wellhead packing box, preventing the polished rod from falling into the wellbore and causing a downhole debris accident.
3. Operating condition adjustment and limit: Used for adjusting the thrust distance, preventing pump collisions, temporary load bearing during well workover operations, and unloading the head load, limiting the polished rod to prevent displacement, bending, or pull-out of the sucker rod.
Commonly used smooth rod diameters are 19mm, 22mm, 25mm, 28mm, 32mm, and 36mm.
